ChildrensAid - Who are we?

ChildrensAid works to improve the lives of children from poor communities in Brazil, having as its main objective the generation of opportunities through education, sports and citzenship.

Our work began in England in 2000, with a campaign to raise awareness, funds, and school and sports materials for children in a situation of risk in Mozambique, Africa.

From this project we started to structure our actions to improve children’s lives in Brazil. We started with campaigns and projects that generated many short term benefits to children in need, for example: donations of books, school materials, toys... We established a firm contact and exchange with the communities and with the institutions in those communities, developing a very good relationship with them.

Our objective has always been to grow progressively, starting from short term projects to medium term and from then on to long term projects, which are the ones we find ourselves working on at the moment.

We have formed some excellent partnerships in the past years, from which we can see many results, and many more are being set up beginning with the start of Onda Solidaria (ChildrensAid Brazil) in October 2004, and further short/medium term relief programmes through to Jauary 2005.

We have a Big Dream, which is to offer a complete education base, an international exchange programme between children from Brazil and Britain, and especially the “Factory of Opportunities” called: “Dream Villa”.

This project is being developed by businessmen, architects, sociologists and education ministers to become a reference point and an oasis of hope for the most needy communities in Brazil.

We work with different methodologies and strategies depending on the needs of each place and partner i.e. institutions, NGO’s, government, businesses, all to improve children’s lives.

We have a strong connection between Britain and Brazil through Onda Solidaria and in countries like France, Spain and Germany where we have got volunteer bases that promote our projects and cultural events and activities.
